Treatment of patients with fear

The technical term for this is the dental phobia. There are different approaches for optimal attitude and treatment of patients experiencing anxiety in the dentist's chair. For this purpose, as a first step in the treatment, it is necessary to create a pleasant atmosphere that has an established calming effect on the patient. Of particular importance is the planned time during which

the treating person can calmly and thoroughly explain to the patient the treatment steps so as to build a foundation of trust.

In addition, there are already modern facilities and tools whose use aims at minimizing the sense of fear. An example of this is the use of a blue light lamp that has a proven calming effect on the patient. Modern and effective is the relaxation therapy, where video glasses, music, and multimedia systems are being used. Acupuncture and hypnosis are two other methods supporting the treatment that also limit fears. Treatment under general anesthesia is the last option, which in some cases is also quite appropriate.
