Treatment with dental splints

Upon diagnosis of dysfunctional disease of the masticatory system usually a treatment with dental splints should be carried out. The relevant case may pertain to rheumatoid or degenerative disease of the temporomandibular joints. In the professional circles for this purpose, the term Cranio Mandibular Dysfunction (CMD) has been developed that describes a mismatch between the skull with

the upper and lower jaw. Such impaired interaction of the contact points of the teeth continues in the long run to a wrong biting position and extreme tension on the temporomandibular joints.

The reason for such a condition can be a great nervous stress. Typical teeth squeaking creates such an unnatural tension on the temporomandibular joints and muscles, which could lead to significant damage and nervous disorders. Common symptoms for this are head and neck tension, headaches, and even pain in the entire musculoskeletal system.
